'German Chamber Clock'

Enlarged images: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

A reproduction of a 16 th Century German chamber clock, made over a two decades and taking around one thousand hours. Based on a clock, which is on display in the Science Museum in London. It has been cleverly aged with rust on the none working surfaces.

Driven by two heavy cast iron weights, the mechanism slowly ticks away with the foliot turning one way and then the other, regulating the speed of the clock. The hours are struck loudly on the custom made bell, made by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry.

Iron, brass bushes, bell metal and wooden stand.

Dimensions including stand - Height: 185cm x Width: 32cm x Depth: 35cm
